Untold Stories from Are We Europe
In April 2021, Are We Europe (AWE) teamed up with Dutch media activists De Kiesmannen to organise seven week-long storytelling events where young creatives from seven underrepresented European countries pitched and developed digital stories with industry professionals. They called the project Untold Stories. Their mission? To reinvent European journalism by sharing new stories about Europe told by young people living on the periphery of the EU.
AWE hopes to use their project to refocus the media conversation on the issues that matter most to the younger generation: their rights and freedoms as European citizens, the future of democracy, climate change, and digitisation. This isn’t the first digital media project we’ve helped get funded, but we’re particularly proud to have joined AWE’s effort by securing a €225,000 grant to get Untold Stories up and running.
